Pulwama, May 23 (KNO): In a significant initiative aimed at enhancing rural infrastructure and regional connectivity in South Kashmir, two key bridge projects have been approved for Pulwama district under the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) scheme. The approved infrastructure as per the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), will see the construction of bridges linking Drabgam with Kamrazipora and Goosu with Deeri village, both traversing the significant Nallah Romshi stream—a geographical barrier that has long hindered smooth transportation in the area. The announcement has brought a wave of optimism among local residents, many of whom have struggled with connectivity issues for decades. Locals described these bridges as critical lifelines, especially during harsh weather conditions when the stream becomes nearly impassable. “These bridges are more than concrete structures—they are a long-awaited promise of safety and convenience. During rains and snowfall, crossing Nallah Romshi becomes a nightmare. This development will bring immense relief to our people,” said Mohammad Ayoub, a resident of Drabgam. Residents expressed gratitude to the administration for responding to their persistent appeals and emphasized the need for swift implementation. “Our voices have finally been heard after repeated petitions. Now we urge the authorities to ensure the work is completed on time,” added another local from Goosu. According to district officials, the bridges will not only ensure safe and uninterrupted travel but also significantly improve access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and local markets. The enhanced connectivity is expected to particularly benefit farmers and students, who often face difficulties commuting across the stream. They added that the bridges will play a vital role in strengthening inter-district linkages between Pulwama and Budgam, thereby boosting socio-economic development in the region. The reduced travel time is likely to facilitate smoother movement of goods and services, encouraging local trade and economic integration. Officials confirmed that construction work is scheduled to begin shortly. They reaffirmed their commitment to completing the projects within the stipulated timeframe—(KNO)
